Inspired by obsidian and its natural reflective quality. A surface defined by subtle detail and a quiet interaction with light. Once treasured in ancient Mexico for its mirror-like brilliance, the inlays are arranged to read as jewelry on the wall, a nod to the material's enduring cultural significance.
ALMA is a collection of architectural surfaces inspired by Mexican materials that carry history, craft, and cultural character. Through a contemporary design language, these materials are reinterpreted as structured compositions that bring depth, rhythm, and quiet presence to interior spaces.
This collaboration felt very natural; WVH® brings decades of expertise in veneer and production while I approached the collection from a perspective of design, material culture, and architectural expression. The ALMA collection could only exist through a collaboration like this. It required both a design vision and a manufacturing partner capable of working with materials at a very high level.
The overall panel is split into two pieces. They join together in an A/B sequence.

Get in touchThe ALMA Collection is an architectural wall panel system designed to transform walls into meaningful spatial experiences. Created by Alfonso Verduzco in collaboration with WVH, the collection brings together material depth, cultural inspiration, and contemporary design clarity to create a panel solution founded in heritage and quality craftsmanship. The word ‘alma’ in Spanish means ‘soul’, which these panels are steeped in from concept to execution.
Rather than serving as simple surface finishes, the panels introduce rhythm, texture, and presence into a space. Each design draws from materials that carry history and identity, such as lava stone, copper, and obsidian; natural stones, translated into a refined, modern architectural language.
ALMA is about connection. Connection between material and light. Between story and space. Between tradition and contemporary living.
Whether used in a private residence, a hospitality environment, or a commercial project, the collection is designed to elevate interiors of any scale with intention, character, and enduring design.
ALMA is inspired by materials that have shaped spaces and culture for generations; lava stone, copper, obsidian, and hand-worked wood. These elements carry history, resilience, and craftsmanship within them.
Rather than replicating tradition, the collection reinterprets this material heritage through a contemporary architectural lens. The inspiration is not decorative, it is structural, emotional, and rooted in the idea that materials hold memory.
ALMA transforms that memory into modern design, creating surfaces that feel grounded, intentional, and deeply connected to place.
ALMA is for anyone who believes that spaces should feel intentional and meaningful. It is designed for architects, designers, developers, and homeowners who value material integrity, thoughtful design, and emotional depth. Whether the project is a private residence, a hospitality space, or a commercial environment, the collection adapts to different scales while maintaining its architectural presence.
ALMA is not defined by budget or size. It is defined by intention. It is for those who want their spaces to tell a story and feel connected to something authentic and enduring.
The ALMA collection is available exclusively through WVH. You can order via our website or by contacting our sales team here.
A range of natural materials are used in the ALMA collection! ALMA incorporates materials that have carried cultural and architectural significance for generations. These include lava stone, copper, obsidian, natural wood veneers, solid wood and other natural stones.
Each material is selected not only for its visual beauty, but for its texture, depth, and ability to interact with light. They are used in a contemporary architectural way, allowing their natural character to remain visible and honest.
Sagrado features solid ash wood squares that have been charred using the traditional Sho Sugi Ban technique, enhancing the natural grain whilst creating a deep, textured black surface. Solid copper elements are embedded within the natural composition, introducing warmth and contrast against the charred wood and developing a subtle, natural patina over time.
Sendero combined natural black ash wood veneer with solid inserts of black lava stone. Formed from cooled volcanic rock, lava stone is valued for its strength, texture, and connection to the landscapes where it naturally occurs. In this panel, the stone elements are integrated into the composition to echo the rhythm of historic stone pathways, translating that material presence into a contemporary architectural surface that brings depth and movement to the wall.
Reflejo pairs engineered gray maple wood veneer with inlays of natural volcanic obsidian. Obsidian is a natural volcanic glass formed when molten lava cools rapidly, giving it its distinctive deep black colour and reflective surface. In this panel, the obsidian elements introduce moments of light and reflection within the linear wood composition, creating a subtle contrast between texture, depth and luminosity across the wall.
In the ALMA collection, materials are not decorative accents. They are the foundation of the design, and chosen with care.
The panels in the ALMA collection will arrive boxed. If more than one pack is ordered, there will be multiple boxes, and may not all arrive on the same day.

ALMA panels are designed as modular systems that allow flexibility in layout while maintaining a clear design intention. You can style them in your space in any way you prefer, however below is some guidance on how the panels can be laid out.
SENDERO: includes Panel A and Panel B. These can be alternated to create either a consistent, repeating rhythm or a more dynamic, organic composition depending on how the panels are arranged across the wall.
SAGRADO: is composed of four square variations, Panels A, B, C, and D. Each panel features copper elements placed in different positions. A standard box includes five panels (A, B, C, D, A), allowing for balanced repetition while still creating subtle variation across the installation.
REFLEJO: includes Panel A and Panel B, designed to be installed in a continuous A-B-A-B sequence. This maintains the intended linear flow and ensures the rhythm of the slats and obsidian inlays remains seamless across the surface.
All panels are engineered for straightforward installation and can be applied across full feature walls or smaller accent areas, depending on the scale of the project.
The panels are simple to install, using either an adhesive on the back of the panel to glue to the wall, or using black screws through the felt to fix them in place. We recommend before installing to lay out your panels in the desired pattern, to ensure you have enough to cover your space. The Sendero and Reflejo have an A and B panel design, and the Sagrado has four designs with five panels in the box, with two panels of design A. Take the time to arrange the panels in the pattern that best suits your tastes.
The panels have been designed to be easy to install and cut down as required. To cut through the felt, we recommend using a sharp utility knife. We recommend scoring the surface of the felt a few times to allow for a cleaner cut. To cut through the wooden slats, we recommend a sharp, fine-toothed blade. To reduce splintering, use masking tape.
The Sagrado and Reflejo panels have been designed to have the Lava Stone and Obsidian near the middle of the panel, reducing the risk of having to cut through the designs to accommodate outlets or a shorter wall height. However, if you do need to cut through them, we recommend using a specialized diamond continuous rim blade for a smooth cut.
At this time, the ALMA collection is only available in 10ft/300cm lengths, which is perfect for larger installations where join lines need to be minimal. The panels can easily be cut down to size, or joined together to have the design cover a larger area.
The ALMA collection is only available in 10ft/300cm sizes at this time.
The collection was designed with this in mind. Key material elements such as lava stone, copper, and obsidian are positioned primarily toward the center of each panel, allowing them to be adjusted when needed without affecting the overall design. With proper layout planning and professional installation, these details are seamlessly integrated, ensuring the final result remains cohesive and visually strong.
The panels themselves are simple to cut to fit around plug sockets, windows and other wall fixtures. To cut through the felt, we recommend using a sharp utility knife. We recommend scoring the felt surface a few times to ensure a cleaner cut. To cut through the slats, we recommend a sharp, fine-toothed blade. To reduce splintering, use masking tape.
The ALMA collection is best installed on clean, flat interior surfaces, such as walls and ceilings. Concrete and brick are fine to install on.
The panels have been designed to have the edge exposed, with a solid black side. When cutting through the slats, they are black throughout, so an edge will always look like the rest of the panels and provide a clean, seamless finish.
Yes, we recommend installing the panels on battens to easily hide wires behind them.
If you’re looking to improve the sound absorption of the panels, we recommend installing them on battens/furring strips, and applying acoustic insulation between the strips and panels. For some extra guidance, please refer to our technical sheet.
The ALMA collection is designed for interior use only.
The ALMA panels are best used in temperature-controlled environments. Exposure to high humidity, moisture and heat should be avoided to prevent early wear and tear on the panels.
The ALMA collection is available to everyone and can be used on both residential and commercial interior projects.
The panels do not come with an oiled finish, but can be treated post-purchase if desired for extra protection. Finishing natural wood is always recommended for protection, and it also enhances its natural beauty by bringing out the grain. Always patch-test before applying a finish to prevent unwanted reactions.
The panels are easy to clean and maintain. A dry dusting will be fine for day-to-day maintenance, as will using a vacuum/hoover with a soft bristle attachment. For stains and marks, use a microfiber cloth with a mild soap. Before using the soap on the lava stone and obsidian, we strongly recommend a patch test, to ensure there are no reactions to the natural materials. For the obsidian glass, a small amount of glass cleaner may be used to achieve a streak-free finish.
The panels do not come with an oiled finish, but can be treated post-purchase if desired for extra protection. For the Sagrado, the copper coins will patina over time - this is completely normal. If you would like to prevent the colour change, we recommend using a UV finish on the coins to assist with this.
Over time, the copper coins on the Sagrado panel will change colour and patina. This is completely normal, and part of the panel design: it shows the beauty in passing time, and the material’s natural reaction to its environment. If you do not want the coins to patina, we recommend applying a UV finish that’s suitable for metal onto them. This will require regular maintenance per the UV finish’s instructions.

Get in touchGreat all around experience. The material arrived quick with no damage and feels of great quality. The install was extremely easy, I got the black background and used black drywall screw. You can’t even see the screws.

These far exceeded my expectations! This wood is absolutely gorgeous — and the acoustical paneling it sits on had the effect of bringing some additional insulation to the room. The end effect was both beautiful — and quieter! It elevated the entire space. Outstanding.
