Initially based in the UK, we now have multiple warehouses and showrooms across the globe, including the US, Australia, and Canada.

Our new unit and warehouse in Phoenix opened up early in 2023 and now supplies the whole of the USA.
Our newest warehouse in Toronto, Canada now stocks and supplies the whole of Canada.
Our warehouse and showroom in Leighton Buzzard supplies the whole U.K. and offers customers the opportunity to come in and experience the veneers in person.
Our new warehouse in Melbourne, Australia supplies the whole of Australia.
Our Auckland warehouse stocks and supplies the whole of New Zealand.

Meet our founder, Laurence Freed

Our founder, Laurence Freed, has been working in the veneers industry since the 1970s and is passionate about quality and collaboration. With decades of wood veneer knowledge, Laurence and his company, Freed Veneers Ltd, have collaborated and supplied the marine, automobile, aviation, architecture, and interior design industries with quality materials and expertise. Always looking to the future for new product and material innovations, Laurence diversified and grew the business, creating exciting out-of-the-box interior decor product solutions with WVH®.

Our story so far

Our roots started in the 1970s, with our founder Laurence, and have grown ever since. We are proud to have over 40 years of expertise within the wood and wood veneer industry.

1970s

1970s: Starting roots with veneers.

Our founder, Laurence, started out as a management trainee for William Mallinson & Sons in East London in 1977. He then moved on to Gloucestershire,...

Our founder, Laurence, started out as a management trainee for William Mallinson & Sons in East London in 1977. He then moved on to Gloucestershire, where he studied hardwood, softwood, sheet materials and spent two years at The Veneer Factory. Laurence received a qualification for The Institute of Wood Science from Bucks College, a four-year programme honing skills and expertise.

1980s

1980s: A growing love of wood veneers and supplying the marine industry.

Laurence became a sales manager for Wood Conversion Ltd in Slough in the early 1980s, specializing in African Veneers from their factories in Ghana, making regular visits to inspect the quality of the veneers. In the late 1980s, Laurence became the UK agent for Danish Overseas Trading, selling teak veneer to the UK and USA marine and furniture markets, continually building up knowledge and experience.

1990s

1990s: Working and collaborating with the automotive industry.

We produced and launched our exciting new and quality slat wall panel range, ‘Acupanel,’ the first out-of-the-box acoustic slat wood wall paneling solution. With Covid-19 shifting people to try out DIY, we offered more DIY products and interior solutions.
